What's new at PDT?

Summer 2025 was a BLAST!

From our youngest dancers taking their first plié to advanced students deepening their technique and artistry, this summer was a season of transformation.

We welcomed new faces into the studio, explored new movement languages, and witnessed bold choreographic voices begin to emerge. From technique classes to composition workshops, rehearsals to informal showings, our students brought curiosity, discipline, and joy to the work.

Our guest faculty — Brittany Freeth, Nichole Beeks, Amber Dupuy, Alicia Moseley, and PDT alum Camille Curtin —guided dancers with thoughtfulness and rigor. Our year-round Conservatory faculty, including Liza Barskaya, Quron Clarks, Noel Dilworth, Ashleigh Doede, and Jean-Marie Martin, continued to nurture the kind of growth that lasts long beyond the summer.

This was not just about dance class or getting everything '"right," this summer was about connection, commitment, and imagining what is possible when we move — together.

Thank you for being part of it. We look forward to continuing to dance with you into the year ahead!

And that is a wrap on our 2024-2025 Conservatory Season!

Congratulations to our PDT dancers on a beautiful weekend of Conservatory in Concert and Spring Repertoire performances!

This year's Spring Mixed Repertoire featured four pieces in the styles of  Contemporary Ballet, Modern, and Broadway Fosse set on our Advanced and Company dancers. Choreographers included Jean Michelle Sayeg, Eric Shah, and Quron Clarks. Also The High Notes of the Pasadena Chorale performed an original piece by Artistic Director Jeffrey Bernstein!

Congratulations to our talented PDT student choreographers and dancers for their powerful work in this year’s Développé Concert!!

Dear PDT Community,

Pasadena Dance Theatre is heartbroken by the devastation that has inflicted so many within the community. Our artists, families, staff, and supporters have been impacted by the tragic loss of their homes, widespread evacuations, the ongoing risks of wildfire, and hazardous smoke. Many of our PDT families have been directly affected and have lost their homes.  Our hearts go out to each and every one of you during this overwhelming time.

Both our Board President, Jessica Maker-Bilandzija & Vice President Nancy Schmeider have lost their homes, as well as dancer families Mimi Austad & Iris Dean.  We know there are more of you, If you have any information about additional PDT families that have lost their home or a link to their GoFundMe page please send to us so we can help support them:

Together, we remain committed to supporting one another and keeping the spirit of our artistic community strong.

Take care,

The PDT Leadership - Jean, Eric, and Ashleigh
