Ezra Shipin is a professional dancer, choreographer, and arts educator born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. While Ezra has been trained as a multi-versed dancer, her focus, passion, and professional career has mainly been in the ballet and contemporary styles. She graduated from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts' (LACHSA) Dance program where she had the opportunity to train with Fiona Lummis, Wendy Lawson, Edouard Kouzmitch, Don Martin, Julie Friedrich and more. Between her time at LACHSA and Summer Intensives with the Bolshoi Ballet and Ballet Chicago, Ezra had the pleasure of dancing as a soloist in ballets such as Napoli, Coppelia, Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadere, Jewels and Symphony of Psalms. She was also a dancer and captain of the WNBA's SparKids under Liezel Marie and Adam Parson. Beyond high school, Ezra went on to graduate with a BFA in Dance from The California Institute of the Arts where she trained extensively, performed in original works by the faculty, and danced in restaged work from Ballet Hispanico and Alvin Ailey. Ezra spent some time dancing commercially: dancing in music videos for Phoebe Bridgers, Ava Max, Vincint and MILK; while simultaneously continuing her contemporary dance practice as a Company Member with MashUp Contemporary Dance Company. While performing was her main focus at the time, she also branched out and began her teaching journey: working as a mentor and assistant choreographer for AllwayzOnStage, a non-profit on a mission to give Young Adults with disabilities an opportunity to perform in stage productions and musicals. In 2018, she moved to New York City where she continued to grow her teaching experience, while also performing with Alice Farley Dance Company, XY Dance Project, and MeMovement. She assisted choreographers at renowned studios such as Broadway Dance Center, Ballet Arts and Steps, as well as setting work on the dancers of Dallas Black Dance Theatre and D1 Asociación Cultural in Peru with Nijawwon Matthews. Ezra is passionately involved with finding ways to diversify dance spaces so that everyone can have access to understand movement as a tool for healing, regulation, growth and self-discovery!
